Senior Python/Django Developer

Melbourne CBD

We’re seeking a skilled senior Django developer to help build a suite of applications; this includes a new CMS (using Wagtail), data analysis services, internal tooling, client dashboards.

Expected skills include:

  • 3+ years professional experience with Django, Python, SQL (preferably PostgreSQL)
  • Experienced with Python outside of a web context (not everything will be web)
  • Experienced with distributed task queues, such as Celery
  • Using/aggregating API’s and interpreting data is second nature
  • Some Javascript/React skills (you’ll be working with a dedicated FE’er, but FE ability is highly regarded)
  • DevOps chops desired but not mandatory (Linux, AWS, Docker, CI pipelines)
  • Veteran of git + software development pipelines
  • Solid understanding across elements of ‘full-stack’ (from infrastructure to front-end)
  • You understand fundamental design principles behind building a scalable platform
  • Test driven mindset; strong experience with Python testing frameworks (i.e. pytest, nose, etc)
  • Strong desire to write clean, maintainable, performant, well documented code
  • Experience working in an agile environment with a team
  • You know when to be pragmatic, and when to take required time on deeper problems
You will be working in a small team, and reporting directly to the CTO. We’re after enthusiastic developers who want to actively contribute to the technical direction.

We will consider applications from strong applicants who may not match all of the above skills; for example, if you’re very conversant in Python and a number of other MVC frameworks and ORM’s, but not Django.

You must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold valid and unrestricted working rights to be considered for this role.
